How to Play

Play Catio online for free. Catio is a 25-stage physics puzzle game where your goal is to get the food to the cat while trying to collect up to 3 stars on each stage. Pop balloons, cut balloon strings, explode bombs & do whatever else is needed to feed the cat. Can you collect all 75 stars? This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

Select the green and white play button in the bottom center of the game’s welcome screen to bring up the level select screen.
- Initially only the first level is accessible.
- Levels are unlocked sequentially.
- Your web browser automatically saves your game progress including beat levels and level star ratings.
- The welcome screen has the following buttons
  - upper left: sound control
  - upper right: exit game
  - lower left: share game on Facebook or Twitter
  - lower right: more games
  - Game Controls
    - Desktop
      - Use your mouse left click button to interact with items.
      - Touchscreen devices
        Tap items on the screen with a finger to pop them.
        Controls & indicators
        On the level select screen the unlocked levels have a green border & the stars you obtained on each level are yellow.
        Game Play
        Levels
        This game has 25 levels of increasing difficulty.
        Levels are unlocked sequentially.
        You beat a level by getting the cat food to the cat.
        Some levels have more than 1 cat on them, but you only need to get the food to one of the cats.
        You can replay any unlocked level at any time.
        Dying
        If the food does not make it to the cat you lose the level.
        If the food is stuck somewhere and did not go off screen you can use the level restart button in the upper right corner to restart the level.
        Item behaviors
        Balloons – provides a pushing force in all directions near wherever it pops.
        You can pop balloons where they stand, or break the string to get them to fly upward then pop them.
        Balloons can fill in gaps between platforms so that your food can roll across them.
        Yellow pegs which hold the balloons in place can bounce the food if the food hits them. If you pop a balloon without touching the strings then the strings which hold balloons will also remain in position until you select them.
        Your food can also bounce off of unpopped balloons.
        Spinning blades – you die if you hit them. Blades can not be destroyed by bombs.
        Bubbles – whatever is inside a bubble remains in a fixed position and is immune to the impacts of popping balloons until the bubble is popped.
        Bombs – red bombs can knock boxes off platform & provide directional force similarly to how a popping balloon does.
        Mines – purple mines disappear when hit by a box.
        Boxes – often in the way, you can destroy them by dropping bombs.
        Arrow – extra speed & if the arrow changes its direction it also changes the angle items bounce off it at.
        Platforms – your food rolls along them or bounces off them.
        Portals – when your cat food goes through one portal it comes out the other. The green portal is the in portal and the purplish portal is the out portal.
        Star ratings
        You earn stars by rolling the cat food through them.
        You can beat a level without collecting all the stars on it.
        You can go back to previously beat levels to try to earn a higher star rating on them.
        Some levels have more than 3 stars on them, but the maximum star rating you can earn is 3.
        Game strategy
        The timing on balloon pops must be almost perfect in some cases, as going a bit early or late can leave a dramatically different force on nearby objects.
        If you have a large monitor and are having time dragging the mouse over fast enough to make multiple consecutive moves you can make the browser window smaller to give your mouse a shorter travel path between moves.
        Sometimes you have to leave obstacles in the way so that your shot fires off of them and bounces back in the other direction.
        Rather than popping balloons sometimes you have to cut the string to use their upward force to knock other items into position, or move platforms around the screen.
        If a balloon is supporting a floating platform then the platform takes a second to lose upward momentum after you pop the balloon support.
        When you pop the balloon and the food is moving past it a small change in angle can be the difference between winning and losing, so don’t be afraid to replay some levels many time.
        If you are stuck with less than a 3-star rating on a level you have beat keep playing through other levels then come back to it.
        Target Audience
        The game is suited for players who like cats or simple physics puzzle games.
        The game has no adult themed content.
