How to Play

Play Castles in Spain online for free. Castles in Spain is a timed 3-level Solitaire card game where you alternate suit color on the tableau while building down & then build 4 suited foundations in ascending order. Initially you can only move one card at a time on the tableau, but you can move longer runs as you create empty stacks on the tableau. All cards are dealt to the tableau with 4 cards in each of the 13 stacks. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

Select the Play button on the right side of the welcome screen to start the game.
Underneath the Play button are buttons for how to play Help, High Scores, and More Games.
The lower left corner of the welcome screen has a language select dropdown.
The lower right corner of the welcome screen has buttons for social media sharing & reading game developer information.
Game Controls
- Desktop
  - Use your mouse left click button to select a card & then drag it where you would like to play it.
  - Touchscreen devices
    - Tap the screen with a finger to select a card & drag it where you would like to play it.
    - Controls & indicators
      - The game controls are in the right rail.
        At the top it shows remaining play time, level number, and cumulative game score.
        At the bottom there are 5 buttons to undo moves, pause the game, switch to full screen mode, control game sound, and control game music.
        You can undo up to 3 moves per level.
        Game Play
        Deal
        This game uses a standard 52-card deck.
        All cards are dealt directly to the tableau across 13 stacks of 4 cards each.
        Playing
        Build down on the tableau while alternating suit color.
        Initially you can only move one card at a time.
        You can move valid runs of cards at once after creating empty stacks on the tableau.
        Each empty stack allows you to move one more card at a time.
        Empty spaces on the tableau can be filled with any card.
        Build the 4 suited foundations in ascending order starting with the Aces.
        Levels
        This game has 3 levels which are unlocked sequentially.
        You can’t go back and replay previously beat levels without starting the game over at the first level.
        The first level gives you 12 minutes to clear the tableau.
        The second level gives you 9 minutes to clear the tableau.
        Scoring
        Your game score is cumulative across levels.
        Each card you manually lay to a foundation is worth 50 points. Cards laid by the game’s autoplay feature do not score points.
        Each second you have remaining when you beat a level is worth 15 points.
        Target Audience
        The game is suited for players who like Solitaire card games.
        The game has no adult themed content.
